Integration software is one of the unsung heroes of the software industry. While client-facing software solutions typically take front stage in delivering new digital services, integration software has continued to develop unobtrusively in both richness and capability.

Today, integration platforms are providing core infrastructure facilities for driving many of today’s leading digital services. These include: open banking, supply chain optimisation, energy trading, and intelligent water monitoring.

This study takes a deep dive into the reality of integration software usage in Australia. Each organization was surveyed only if it is an existing user of integration software. Interviewees were either the final decision-maker or the primary recommender of software decisions. The job role was typically at a senior executive level, typically the Chief Technology Officer or those responsible for software development or architecture.
