Product naming for HP printers MFPs and scanners

HP has released hundreds of different printer models. Knowing the identification of an HP printer is necessary when ordering replacement cartridges or finding support.

HP LaserJet, PageWide and ScanJet products use a unique alphanumeric code to identify the product’s intended market segment, functionality, series, model, and bundle. A similar system is used for HP LaserJet and PageWide supplies.

The supplies and cartridges also have a select-ability number that makes it much easier for customers to identify the correct supplies for their product. Selectability numbers are in addition to HP standard part numbers and do not always correlate (for example Select-ability 656X is P/N CF460X).

This brief guide helps to further decode the LaserJet and PageWide product and supplies names
