How Brands Can Take Advantage of the Evolution of the Breaking News Landscape

Dataminr set out to understand how different sources break and contribute to news, and how that varies by region by analysing alerting data from its platform. For this report, more than 600,000 alerts were analysed using artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques from open source information such as Twitter.

Some recent stories across topics include crime, politics, and entertainment were broken by individuals were broken by individuals, including terror attacks and shootings. Beyond these impactful events, topics ranging from brand protection to pre-viral content are being alerted to media in their earliest stages presenting challenges and opportunities for brands reacting, promoting, and amplifying the conversation.
