To deliver on the promises of 5G, network functions such as the user plane function (UPF) must be able to support extreme throughput of 100Gbps and higher while maintaining low and predictable latencies. Achieving these performance targets in a virtualized or containerized environment requires strong servers with many CPU cores, which increase the total cost of ownership and reduce efficiency.

 

Mavenir and NVIDIA teamed up to accelerate Mavenir UPF with NVIDIA Accelerated Network Computing technology. We'll discuss the concepts of UPF offload to a SmartNIC using Accelerated Network Computing technology, and review Mavenir accelerated UPF performance results.
