Better together: How to tear down the barriers to collaboration

For global organizations with employees all over the world, the use of different languages across teams, and indeed the organization as a whole, can make clear communication difficult. Many organizations have a corporate language – usually the language of head office – but for those employees who don’t speak that language, or perhaps only have a rudimentary grasp of it, it’s a lot harder for them to understand clearly what is being communicated and to contribute meaningfully. Not being able to fully understand communications such as employee handbooks, company policies, company updates, HR announcements, online meetings or cross functional project developments can have profound consequences for the individuals concerned and the organization.
