NTT has launched their Private 5G platform, the first globally available 5G network-as-a-service offering, available as a fully-consumable service. 5G is the fifth generation of cellular wireless technology and the new standard for mobile communications. It offers low latency, higher data-transfer speed and the capacity to carry a larger number of connections than previous standards.

The 5G network is designed to address various use cases across verticals, all within the same network and using the enhancements or attributes of that network.

5G offers three fundamental performance enhancements:

• enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB)
• ultra-reliable and low-latency communications (URLLC)
• massive machine-type communications (mMTC)
